CCS ( Community Childcare Subvention )
The Community Childcare Subvention (CCS) funding programme is currently restricted to community not-for-profit childcare services, to enable them to charge reduced childcare fees to disadvantaged and low-income parents.
This is a scheme which enables community providers to offer parents, who meet certain criteria, a reduced childcare fee. There are 2 tiers of subvention available – Band A; (Includes Parents/Guardians whose main income derives from a social welfare payment such as one parent family payment, FIS, Jobseekers benefit/allowance) – Band B; (Includes parents who hold a medical/GP visit card). Under changes to funding programmes announced by the minister in Budget 2016 there are a number of new initiatives relating to the expansion of the programme. A separate CCS expansion catering for a targeted number of private childcare providers will commence in early 2016.
